Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a professional driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, while supporting the selling process.

The role emphasizes safe operation of tractor-trailers, daily equipment inspections, and proactive communication with dispatch and customers for timely deliveries. The position requires a class A CDL with required endorsements, a clean MVR, DOT compliance, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must possess a class A CDL with double/triple, hazmat and tank endorsements; automatic restriction allowed.
• Must have 1 year of experience in the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• DOT regulatory requirements under 391 FMC regulations must be met.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations (including doubles/triples where applicable) or straight trucks.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Handle freight with motorized and manual equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope and other supplies.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight as needed and maintain required documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays, arrivals, or problems.
• Communicate with customers to determine pick-up/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
