Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a skilled truck driver to pick up and deliver freight between service centers and customers, supporting the selling process.

You will operate tractor-trailer combinations (including doubles/triples where applicable) and perform comprehensive pre-trip inspections to ensure safety and compliance. This role requires a valid CDL-A with hazmat/tank endorsements and one year of recent driving experience or the FedEx Driver Development Course.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A with hazmat and tank endorsements.
• 1 year experience within the last 3 years or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course.
• Must have an acceptable MVR per hiring standards.
• Must meet DOT regulatory requirements under FMC regulations.
• Able to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Able to lift/carry up to 100 pounds repeatedly.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles/triples where applicable.
• Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment.
• Hook/unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer.
• Handle freight with appropriate equipment (forklift, pallet jack, hand truck).
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures.
• Collect payments for freight charges and maintain documentation.
• Follow dispatch instructions and communicate delays or issues to dispatch.
• Communicate with customers to determine pickup/delivery needs and solicit additional business.
• Provide internal and external customer service and upsell opportunities.
• May perform chaining of vehicle tires and other duties as needed.
• May perform duties of road driver or dock employee as required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
