Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a National Catastrophe Field Claims Specialist II for Personal Lines. This field-based role travels to disaster sites (up to 80%) to inspect damage, determine coverages and guide customers through claims with empathy and clarity.

You’ll work with CAT environments, use Xactimate, and collaborate across teams to deliver timely resolutions while upholding high service standards and compliance. Extended deployments and long days may be required.

Qualifications

• Education: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• State licensing where required; Xactimate certifications within specified timeframe.
• Three to five years of related property claims experience; customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Handle assigned claims promptly with minimal direction.
• Determine coverages and apply claims practices per policy.
• Open/close/adjust reserves to ensure adequacy.
• Maintain knowledge of insurance guidelines and updates.
• Inspect properties and cost estimates using claims systems.
• Collaborate with Special Investigations Unit and Subrogation.
• Provide proactive updates and strong customer service.
• Lead less experienced claims associates when needed.
• Work extended hours and CAT deployment as required.
