Job summary

Nationwide is seeking a National Catastrophe Field Claims Specialist to support our Personal Lines team during major disasters nationwide. This field role demands hands-on inspections, clear guidance, and empathy as customers navigate the complex claims process.

You’ll travel to catastrophe zones (up to 80% of the time), perform on-site damage assessments, determine coverages, and lead the full lifecycle of claims from opening through resolution.

Qualifications

• Education: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience.
• Licensing and certification: State license; Xactimate Level 1 within 1 year; Level 2 within 2 years.
• Experience: 3–5 years in property claims; customer service; extended hours; CAT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site property inspections and damage assessments in catastrophe zones.
• Investigate and resolve moderate to complex property claims end-to-end.
• Determine policy coverages and apply claims practices to resolve cases.
• Open/close/adjust reserves; manage file conferencing and authority procedures.
• Stay current on insurance rules, product changes, and trainings.
• Collaborate with Special Investigations and Subrogation to identify fraud.
• Provide proactive updates to customers and deliver outstanding service.
