Job summary

AdaptHealth in Gainesville, FL seeks an Intake Specialist to coordinate referrals, review documentation, and verify insurance eligibility to move care forward smoothly.

You'll work with patients, providers and internal teams, handle payer requirements, collect payments when applicable, and maintain accurate records across EMR systems.

Qualifications

• One year of relatable work experience required.
• High School Diploma or Associate’s degree in a related field required.
• Experience in admin, clerical, insurance, billing, claims, call center, or customer service is preferred.
• Experience in healthcare orgs, pharmacy, HME, medical supply, or Medicare environment is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records, payer guidelines to determine patient eligibility and compliance.
• Communicate with patients regarding financial responsibility and document interactions.
• Contact patients when documentation does not meet payer requirements and offer options.
• Coordinate with referral sources, physicians, and clinical teams for complete documentation.
• Enter referrals within set timeframes and maintain productivity/quality standards.
• Maintain accurate patient information in electronic systems.
