Job summary

AdaptHealth is seeking an Intake Specialist to coordinate referrals, review clinical documentation, and ensure services are set up accurately and efficiently. You’ll work with patients, providers, referral sources, and internal teams to navigate insurance requirements and eligibility.

This role suits someone who enjoys detail-oriented work, patient communication, and collaborating across teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Previous healthcare admin experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of relatable work experience required.
• High School Diploma or Associate’s degree in a related field or Healthcare Administration or Business Administration.
• Experience in management, administrative, clerical, insurance, billing, claims, call center, or customer service is preferred but not required.
• Experience within a healthcare organization, pharmacy, HME, medical supply, or Medicare-certified environment is a plus but not required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with analytical, problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and healthcare systems; comfortable learning new technologies and navigating multiple systems.
• Ability to work independently while following established procedures and directives.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and payer guidelines to determine eligibility and compliance before service delivery.
• Communicate with patients about financial responsibility and document interactions.
• Contact patients when documentation does not meet payer requirements and provide alternatives.
• Coordinate with referral sources, physicians, and clinical teams to obtain complete documentation.
• Ensure services are provided in accordance with payer requirements and company policy.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation using electronic systems.
