Job summary

Insight Global in Houston, TX is seeking a Capacity Planning Supervisor to lead their ground transportation capacity planning team. You will oversee Capacity Planning Specialists responsible for securing qualified carrier coverage and managing dispatch and appointments.

The role requires strong knowledge of freight brokerage operations, negotiating rates, monitoring carrier performance, and coaching the team to maintain service levels amid volume spikes.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years in carrier procurement, carrier sales, truckload brokerage, dispatch, capacity planning, or transportation ops in 3PL/freight brokerage.
• 1-3+ years leading a team responsible for carrier capacity, brokerage, or transportation ops.
• Experience sourcing carrier capacity, negotiating rates, balancing service vs. margin.
• Knowledge of US domestic ground transport including FTL/LTL, equipment types, transit times, and charges.
• Experience with Descartes Aljex or similar TMS; freight visibility tools like MacroPoint, Tive, Open Dock.

Responsibilities

• Lead capacity planning team to secure qualified carrier coverage and manage dispatch/appointments.
• Oversee carrier performance, final cost accuracy, and margin discipline.
• Coach team on carrier negotiations, operational execution, and issue resolution.
• Monitor open shipments board and rebalance workloads during volume spikes.
