Job summary

Houston-based employer is seeking a Capacity Planning Supervisor to lead the ground transportation capacity planning team. You will oversee Capacity Planning Specialists responsible for securing qualified carrier coverage, managing dispatch and appointments, and ensuring every shipment is covered ahead of its pickup window.

You will monitor the open shipments board, rebalance workloads during volume spikes, coach the team on carrier negotiations, and drive performance, cost accuracy, and margin

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years in carrier procurement, carrier sales, brokerage, or dispatch within a 3PL.
• 1-3+ years leading a team responsible for capacity planning or transportation operations.
• Strong track record balancing service, rates, and margins.
• Knowledge of US ground transportation, including FTL/LTL and carrier compliance.
• Experience managing high-volume operations and coaching staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead capacity planning team to secure carrier coverage and manage dispatch.
• Monitor open shipments board and rebalance workloads during volume spikes.
• Provide guidance on difficult-to-cover freight and negotiate rates.
• Oversee carrier performance, cost accuracy, and margin discipline.
• Develop the team to ensure reliable service and capacity.
