Job summary

Motorola Solutions is seeking a Business Development Engineer for US Air Force programs. You will bridge RF capabilities with DoD requirements, support field trials, and demonstrate interoperability of StreamCaster radios across airborne, surface, and expeditionary environments.

You will work with engineering and BD teams, travel for field tests, and help translate field feedback into product roadmap inputs while maintaining a strong emphasis on security and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Network Engineering, or related C5ISR field with 2–5 years of demonstrated experience in systems engineering, technical business development, or defense technology roles; OR High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of relevant technical or defense experience.
• Exposure to or working knowledge of Software-Defined Radios (SDRs), IP-based routing protocols, or tactical communication systems.
• Basic familiarity with RF test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers and signal generators.
• Security Clearance: Active U.S. Government SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain one within 15 months of hire.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
• All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test.

Responsibilities

• Assist in analyzing US Air Force operational priorities and mapping operational requirements to tactical radio solutions.
• Support technical planning, network configuration, and live-on-the-air execution of field trials, modernizations, and user evaluations.
• Collaborate with the Applications Engineering team to leverage continuous testing and competitive benchmarking data to verify architecture soundness.
• Maintain alignment with the Business Development team to support ongoing technical needs and strategic priorities.
• Assist in building and presenting technical demonstrations tailored to airborne, tactical edge, and expeditionary airbase networking needs.
• Contribute technical input and review support for RFI/RFP proposal responses.
• Perform market research to identify potential integrations with industry partners and test end-to-end network architectures.
• Engage with Air Force stakeholders and translate field feedback into product roadmap inputs.
• Travel 25-50%; remote work options depending on location.
