Job summary

Lincoln Property Company is seeking a Lead Building Engineer in Fairfax, VA to direct day-to-day operations and mentor engineering staff while overseeing contractors. You will monitor HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems, coordinate preventive maintenance, and ensure safety and code compliance.

The role requires after-hours availability, strong communication with tenants and vendors, and proficiency with CMMS and energy-management tools. 100% in-office with a focus on reliability and safety.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Five to seven years of industry-related experience or commensurate certification.
• At least one year of supervisory experience.
• CFC Certification preferred or willingness to obtain; engineering/trade licenses required per local regulations.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, energy management software, CMMS.
• Familiar with fire/life safety equipment and procedures.
• Strong customer service and communication with tenants/vendors/contractors.
• Familiarity with blueprints and code requirements.
• Ability to work after hours and in emergencies as needed.
• Ability to read/write English to follow manuals and write reports.
• Knowledge of BAS, HVAC, and electrical controls; troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

• Monitor HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment conditions.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
• Oversee service contractors and ensure compliance with standards.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with tenants, contractors, and property managers to ensure reliable operations.
• Oversee scopes of work and contract compliance.
• Conduct regular building inspections and address deficiencies.
• Manage preventive maintenance schedules and ensure execution.
• Record equipment readings and ensure systems operate per standards.
• Follow safety protocols and OSHA/NEC/NFPA regulations; maintain compliance logs.
• Communicate with teams, leadership, vendors, tenants.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
