Job summary

Lincoln Property Company in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Lead Building Engineer to oversee daily operations and maintenance of building systems, ensuring efficient and safe performance while supervising engineering staff and contractors.

The role requires extensive HVAC, electrical and BAS knowledge, strong supervisory, and a proven commitment to safety and tenant service. You will coordinate preventive maintenance, manage responses to emergencies, and mentor junior engineers.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 5–7 years of industry-related experience.
• At least 1 year of supervisory/training/mentoring experience.
• CFC Certification preferred or willingness to obtain; licenses required per local/state/national rules.
• Familiar with BAS, HVAC, and electrical controls; able to troubleshoot complex systems.
• Familiar with blueprints and codes; strong safety compliance awareness.

Responsibilities

• Monitor HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment performance.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and emergency repairs.
• Oversee service contractors and ensure compliance with standards.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians; set performance goals.
• Collaborate with tenants, contractors, and property managers to ensure reliable operations.
• Oversee vendor scopes and contract compliance; ensure quality control.
• Conduct regular building inspections and address deficiencies.
• Manage preventive maintenance schedules and execution.
• Record equipment readings and ensure systems operate per standards.
• Follow safety protocols; ensure OSHA/NEC/NFPA compliance and training logs.
• Communicate with stakeholders professionally; keep customers informed.
