Job summary

Lincoln Property Company seeks a Lead Building Engineer to oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of building systems in our McLean, VA portfolio. You will supervise engineering staff, coordinate with tenants and vendors, and ensure compliance with safety and building codes.

You will manage preventive maintenance, monitor BAS/HVAC/electrical controls, review readings, and lead safety initiatives while mentoring junior engineers and technicians in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED required.
• 5–7 years of industry-related experience or commensurate certification.
• At least 1 year of supervisory, training, or mentoring experience.
• CFC Certification preferred or willingness to obtain; licenses as required by local/state/national rules.
• Proficient with MS Office, energy management software, CMMS.
• Familiar with fire/life safety procedures and code requirements.
• Strong customer service and communication with tenants, vendors, and teams.
• Ability to read/write English and understand manuals/procedures.
• Strong knowledge of BAS/HAVC and electrical controls and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Monitor the operating condition of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and emergency repairs for the building.
• Oversee service contractors while ensuring compliance with building standards.
• Supervise and mentor junior Engineers and Technicians; set staff goals and evaluate progress.
• Collaborate with tenants, contractors, and property managers to ensure reliable operations.
• Identify scopes of work and oversee contract compliance with vendors.
• Conduct regular building inspections and address deficiencies proactively.
• Manage preventive maintenance schedules and ensure execution.
• Record equipment readings and verify operation per standards.
• Follow safety protocols; ensure OSHA, NEC, NFPA compliance; maintain safety logs.
• Communicate with teammates, leadership, vendors, tenants, and client employees professionally.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
