Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking an enthusiastic assistant coach for Boys Soccer (Freshman-Sophomore). This stipend role supports the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating all aspects of the program, ensuring a safe and development-focused environment for student-athletes.

The ideal candidate has IHSA or ASEP/NFHS certification, a teaching certificate or equivalent, and a proven coaching track record.

Qualifications

• Illinois teaching certificate or IHSA-accepted certification is required.
• CPR/AED certification and concussion awareness training must be current.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance are required.
• Title IX training to assure compliance with anti-discrimination laws.
• Strong knowledge of IHSA rules and high school athletics required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach with skill drills, practice plans, and conditioning.
• Provide individual feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Aid with game-day logistics, equipment setup, and scorekeeping.
• Maintain inventory of athletic equipment and repairs as needed.
• Ensure IHSA rules and safety protocols are followed during activities.
• Track athlete eligibility and required medical clearances.
• Build positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and administration.
• Support travel planning, scheduling, and budget tracking.
• Help prepare materials for meetings and disseminate program updates.
