Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 seeks a Boys Basketball Assistant Coach (Freshman–Sophomore) to support the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating all facets of the program on a visiting basis at Proviso West High School.

The role emphasizes safe, inclusive, and development-focused instruction, with strong interpersonal collaboration among students, staff, and parents. A background in teaching and coaching is expected, along with required IHSA certifications.

Qualifications

• Experience in planning and delivering skill development for high school athletes.
• Ability to supervise multiple athletes and classes.
• Strong understanding of IHSA rules and safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Design and run skill-development drills and conditioning sessions.
• Provide individual feedback on technique and effort.
• Assist with game-day logistics and equipment setup.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
• Ensure IHSA rules, safety protocols, CPR/AED readiness, and concussion management.
