Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 seeks a Boys Basketball - Assistant Coach (Sophomore) to support the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive program for sophomore players at Proviso East High School.

The ideal candidate will possess a valid Illinois teaching certificate or ASEP/NFHS coaching certification, CPR/AED and concussion certifications, and a strong commitment to safety, inclusion, and student development within a competitive athletic environment.

Qualifications

Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) or ASEP/NFHS Certification.
CPR/AED certification compliance for all high school coaches.
IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocols.
Background check and fingerprinting clearance as required.
Title IX training for compliance with anti-discrimination laws.

Responsibilities

Assist Head Coach in designing and running drills, practice plans, and conditioning.
Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
Assist with game-day logistics, equipment setup, and scorekeeping.
Maintain equipment inventory and coordinate repairs.
