Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking a Girls Soccer - Assistant Coach (Junior Varsity) to support the Head Coach in planning, implementing, and evaluating all facets of the program. The role emphasizes safety, inclusivity, and development for student-athletes, under Athletic Director supervision.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid Illinois teaching certificate or ASEP/NFHS certification, complete required safety trainings, and have proven coaching experience.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification, as mandated by IHSA.
• CPR and AED certification per IHSA regulations for all high school coaches.
• IHSA concussion training and safety protocol compliance.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance per Illinois School Code.
• Completion of Title IX training to ensure anti-discrimination compliance.
• In-depth knowledge of the sport, rules, techniques, and strategies.
• Prior successful coaching experience in girls soccer.
• Strong instructional skills in fundamentals, strategy, and conditioning.
• Commitment to a diverse, inclusive athletic program for student-athletes.
• Coaching Certification for non-teaching staff required (ASEP/NFHS/IHSA approved).
• Concussion certification valid for two years.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head Coach to design and run drills, practice plans, and conditioning.
• Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game-day logistics, equipment setup, venue prep, warm-ups, and scorekeeping.
• Maintain and inventory equipment, coordinate repairs and storage.
• Monitor IHSA rules, policies, safety protocols including CPR/AED readiness.
• Support athlete eligibility tracking and maintain required documentation.
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
• Participate in preseason meetings, trainings, and postseason equipment returns.
• Assist with developing game schedules and travel logistics.
• Support budget tracking, equipment orders, and inventory records.
• Prepare materials for parent/booster meetings and disseminate program updates.
• Assist with Title IX, ISBE, IHSA compliance documentation under Head Coach guidance.
• Coordinate with Athletic Director on equipment purchases and community partnerships.
