Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools District 209 is seeking a Boys Soccer Assistant Coach (Freshman-Sophomore) to support the Head Coach with planning, drills, and conditioning, while upholding a safe, inclusive environment for student-athletes.

The stipend position is non-tenure and contingent on enrollment and funding. Certifications in IHSA-approved programs, CPR/AED, and concussion safety are required.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification is required.
• CPR and AED certification for all high school athletic coaches per IHSA regulations.
• Concussion awareness training and safety protocols per state/federal regulations, including Youth Sports Concussion Safety Act.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance per Illinois School Code and IHSA requirements.
• Completion of federal Title IX training to ensure compliance with anti-discrimination laws in athletics.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Head Coach to design and run skill-development drills, practice plans, and conditioning sessions.
• Provide individualized feedback to student-athletes on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game-day logistics, including equipment setup, venue preparation, and scorekeeping.
• Maintain and inventory athletic equipment, coordinate repairs, storage, and issuance.
• Monitor adherence to IHSA rules, district policies, and safety protocols, including CPR/AED readiness and concussion management.
• Support athlete eligibility tracking and manage required documentation (physicals, academic clearances).
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff; act as liaison and elevate concerns to Head Coach.
