Job summary

Proviso West High School is seeking a Boys Soccer Assistant Coach (Sophomore) to assist the Head Coach with planning, implementing, and evaluating drills, conditioning, and skill development for student-athletes in a safe, inclusive program.

The ideal candidate will hold an Illinois teaching certificate or IHSA/NFHS ASEP certification, complete CPR/AED and concussion training, and work under the Athletic Director and building principal to foster a positive team culture and athletic growth.

Qualifications

• Must hold an Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS certification as required by IHSA.
• CPR/AED certification required for IHSA coaches.
• Completion of IHSA concussion awareness training and Youth Sports Concussion Safety Act compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Coach with designing drills, practice plans, and conditioning sessions.
• Provide feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship to student-athletes.
• Assist with game-day logistics, equipment setup, and scorekeeping.
• Maintain inventory of athletic equipment and coordinate repairs.
• Monitor IHSA rules, safety protocols, and eligibility documentation.
• Support travel planning, budget tracking, and program communications.
