Job summary

Proviso Township High Schools is seeking a Girls Soccer Assistant Coach (Sophomore) to support the Head Coach at Proviso West High School. The role focuses on planning, implementing, and evaluating the program to create a safe, inclusive, and development-focused environment for student-athletes.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Illinois teaching certificate or ASEP/NFHS certification, IHSA concussion training, CPR/AED certification, and Title IX training, with background checks completed.

Qualifications

• Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10) OR ASEP/NFHS Certification.
• Compliance with IHSA CPR/AED certifications for high school coaches.
• IHSA concussion awareness training and safety protocols.
• Background check and fingerprinting clearance.
• Federal Title IX training to ensure compliance with anti-discrimination laws.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Head Coach to design and run drills, practice plans, and conditioning sessions.
• Provide individualized feedback on technique, effort, and sportsmanship.
• Assist with game-day logistics, equipment setup, venue prep, warm-ups, and scorekeeping.
• Maintain and inventory athletic equipment, coordinating repairs and storage.
• Monitor adherence to IHSA rules, district policies, and safety protocols (CPR/AED, concussion management).
• Support athlete eligibility tracking and document physicals and academic clearances.
• Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff; liaise with Head Coach as needed.
• Participate in preseason meetings, team briefings, trainings, and postseason tasks.
