Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Birth Registration Clerk in Boston to identify and generate reports for patients who delivered newborns the previous day. You will ensure compliance with Massachusetts birth certificate regulations and support notary duties.

You will work with nursing staff and social services to coordinate interpreters, maintain data accuracy, and provide empathetic, professional service to patients and families in a busy health care setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 0-1 years related work experience required.
• Experience with computer systems including web-based applications and MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access).

Responsibilities

• Identifies patients who have delivered newborns the previous day. Compile and assemble reports containing legal, clinical and statistical information and prioritize work plans.
• Telephonic interviewing of patients and explaining rules governing birth certificates registration per state guidelines.
• Interprets data provided by patients and clinicians under Massachusetts rules, including educational and clinical background.
• Identify and prepare legal affidavits and notification letters; acts as Notary Public witnessing signatures and certifying documents.
• Coordinates availability of interpreters for language barriers and works with nursing staff to meet patient needs.
