Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to ensure accurate and timely billing, monitor customer accounts, and resolve invoicing discrepancies. You will set up new customer profiles, collect billing records, prepare invoices, and assist with collections as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two (2) years of billing or directly related experience.
• Working knowledge of MS Office and Billing/Financial software.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy.
• Understanding of billing and invoicing process.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with customers.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely billing and invoicing, monitoring customer accounts and handling inquiries and resolving discrepancies.
• Sets up new customer accounts and maintains up-to-date accurate information for Accounts Receivable/Payable.
• Collects and compiles billing records and enters data into the database; ensures accuracy of billing information and negotiated terms.
• Prepares and distributes invoices to customers on a timely basis with service dates and amounts due.
• Monitors customer accounts, ensures payments on time and reports overdue accounts.
• Maintains an acceptable level of overdue invoices per policy; may assist with collections.
• Generates credit memorandums; maintains confidentiality in costing and billing communications.
• Responds to billing questions via telephone and email; scans and files account records.
• Performs backup duties for dispatch personnel.
