Job summary

Joy of Words Clinic in Houston, TX, seeks a dedicated Bilingual Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to join our pediatric therapy team. The role focuses on delivering English/Spanish services to children and families in a supportive, child-centered setting.

You will assist licensed SLPs with therapy plans, develop activities, involve families in treatment, and pursue ongoing professional growth while maintaining licensure per TD LR rules. Texas license preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Speech and Hearing Sciences or Communication Sciences and Disorders.
• Texas SLPA license issued by TDLR is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish to engage diverse clients.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed speech-language pathologists in implementing therapy plans focusing on speech, language, and communication skills.
• Develop and implement activities and materials for teaching and practice skills per the plan of care developed by the supervising SLP.
• Involve family/caregiver in treatment through education and counseling
• Comply with TDLR Board rules and attend continuing education programs as required to maintain licensure and promote professional growth.

• Assist licensed speech-language pathologists in implementing therapy plans tailored to each client’s needs, focusing on speech, language, and communication skills.

• Comply with TLDR Board rules and attend to continue education programs as required to maintain licensure and promote professional growth.

• Active Texas SLPA license issued by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) ** Preferred but not required


• Candidates that require 25 hours of clinical experience are encouraged to apply, SLP can provide those hours.


• Strong communication skills in both languages (English/Spanish) are required to effectively engage with clients from diverse backgrounds.
