Job summary

HDR is seeking a BES Data Steward to define and enable data definitions across the Building Engineering Services Group. The role focuses on governance, data standardization, and enabling reuse across BES disciplines, not IT ownership.

Embedded in the BES Business Group, this leadership position drives data-driven decision-making, supports project delivery, and fosters collaboration with subject matter experts and technical authorities to sustain data practices across HDR projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, data science, business, computer science, or related discipline.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Architecture/Engineering.
• Experience developing and managing diverse teams.
• Ability to work cooperatively with leaders and managers.
• Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Establish and coordinate SME expertise to define technical standards for BES data practices.
• Develop and maintain business-aligned data definitions for terms supporting data models and AI use cases.
• Build alignment and consensus around data processes, priority, and usage.
• Promote responsible use of technical data, access, quality, and reuse.
• Govern externally sourced datasets: access, approvals, inventory, storage, lifecycle.
• Promote data fluency across the BES Business Group.
• Coordinate with Technology/Professional Services Directors to align data workflows with BES BG strategy.
• Lead change management to drive adoption of data standards, practices, and tools.
• Communicate with Data Stewards, Enterprise Data Science Teams, and Data Operations staff.
• Ensure new tools align to data strategy within BES BG.
