Job summary

The WV Department of Human Services is seeking candidates for a training role focused on processing benefit applications and learning to determine eligibility across SNAP, Medicaid, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers.

Under close supervision, you will learn to use department software, adhere to complex policies, conduct client interviews, and analyze financial and social information to issue benefits accurately.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience providing direct client services such as interviewing clients, customers or the public and evaluating data against established standards and guidelines.
• OR two years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience performing customer service, telemarketing, retail or clerical work.
• Successful completion of coursework may substitute for required experience at rate of one year per 30 credit hours.

Responsibilities

• Learn in a training role to process benefit applications under close supervision.
• Determine eligibility for economic assistance including SNAP, Medicaid, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers.
• Learn to use department software to administer a demanding caseload.
• Conduct interviews with clients and learn to analyze financial and social information for eligibility decisions.
