Job summary

State of West Virginia is seeking a trainee to learn methods of processing benefit applications and determining eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP, and School Clothing Vouchers. The role involves using department software to manage a demanding caseload while adhering to complex eligibility policies.

Under supervision, you will conduct client interviews, analyze financial and social information, and learn to handle repayment where benefits were issued in error.

Qualifications

• Two years of related experience or customer service/clerical work.
• High school diploma required.
• Driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Learning to process benefit applications under close supervision.
• Determine eligibility for SNAP, Medicaid programs, Emergency Assistance/LIEAP and School Clothing Vouchers.
• Learn to analyze financial and social information to support eligibility decisions.
• Learn to use department software to administer a demanding caseload.
• May retain repayment for economic assistance issued erroneously.
• Perform related work as required.
