Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in clerical, patient contact, hospital business office or insurance.
• Communication skills required to interview patients and families, to exchange information with other hospital staff.
• A minimum of one year’s experience as a Patient Access & Scheduling Representative.
• Concise written communication skills and keyboarding skills required.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and sources to obtain demographic and financial data.
• Schedule patient appointments using the electronic scheduling system.
• Gather and record financial and insurance information and verify details.
• Obtain pre-certification and authorization for services and collect co-pays.
• Complete admission and registration paperwork.
• Coordinate referrals to financial resources as needed.
