Job summary

VIP is seeking a Service Writer to join our automotive service team in Vermont. You will educate customers on vehicle conditions, coordinate service workflow, and help deliver a distinct, high-quality experience aligned with VIP standards.

Ideal candidates bring clear communication, strong organization, and automotive knowledge. ASE certifications (C1, P2, G1) and a valid state inspection license are valued; some roles require licensure.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• One year of related automotive service experience preferred.
• Current, valid driver’s license required.
• ASE C1 certification required; P2 and G1 recommended.
• State inspection license may be required where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure workplace safety is Priority #1 and follow safety policies.
• Consult with customers and educate them about vehicle condition per MPI inspection.
• Aim for above-average customer engagement as measured by SAX score.
• Learn and execute duties assigned by the Service Manager to deliver a superior customer experience.
• Coordinate dispatch and assignment of work orders to technicians as needed.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the service area and equipment.
• Comply with the service Code of Ethics and all regulations.
• Communicate with management to ensure policy adherence and team alignment.

High school diploma or equivalent

One year related automotive service experience

Two-year college/technical program recommended

ASE C1 – Service Consultant

ASE P2 – Parts Specialist
