Group 1 Automotive in Sacramento, CA is seeking an Automotive Service Advisor to greet customers, gather repair details, prepare estimates, and manage service progress. Qualifications

• At least 1 year dealership experience.
• Ability to write clear and precise repair instructions.
• Provide estimates for labor and parts.
• Establish/determine customers method of payment.
• Obtain customers signature on PO.
• Continuous communication on jobs throughout the day.
• Coordinate with manufacturer and/or extended warranty companies for approval in advance of repairs.
• Be knowledgeable of products and services.
• Meet or exceed sales quotas set by management.
• Test drive vehicles when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Meet and greet service customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Listen to customer’s reasons for bringing in their vehicle to the service department.
• Offer diagnostic services or repairs to satisfy customer concerns.
• Provide accurate estimates for services or repairs recommended.
• Handle minor customer complaints with courtesy and tact.
• Escalate to service manager for issues that cannot be resolved at ASM level.
• Answer incoming calls promptly and courteously.
• Track repair progress and obtain authorization for additional work.
• Sell proper repairs and services to meet customer needs.
• Present a service menu of recommended maintenance to every customer.
• Promote maintenance services due on every service vehicle.
• Obtain accurate parts and labor prices from price sources and pricing guides.
• Provide an initial estimate at RO creation.
• Obtain telephone approval for add-on sales when not on site.
• Aim to meet or exceed sales objectives set by management.
• Write repair orders clearly and completely.
• Distribute repair orders per department policy.
• Maintain a service scheduling form and update it continuously.
• Document any repair order changes.
• Inspect finished repair orders for accuracy and pricing.
• Record flat rate time or other required timekeeping.
• Maintain carryover vehicle records.
• Maintain status of special order parts.
• Perform other specified admin functions as directed by management.
• Monitor special order parts boards and keep them up to date.
• Check warranty follow-up and keep logs current.
• Provide information to technical staff as needed about issues.
• Communicate with technical staff on job status changes.
• Stay informed about shop workload to plan work capacity.
• Inform the sales manager of potential new vehicle sales customers.
• Confirm service appointments by phone the day before arrival.
• Notify customers when service work is completed.
• Report hazards or issues to management that affect safety or integrity of the dealership.
