Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Energy & Resources consulting team. You’ll contribute to mining, power, oil & gas, and renewable energy projects across North America, designing I&C systems and leading aspects of project delivery.

You will work with a multidisciplinary design team, coordinating with clients, vendors, and contractors. A PE license or eligibility is preferred, with ~10% travel expected.

Qualifications

• Self-starter who can handle change with minimal supervision.
• Strong written and verbal communication across teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to client sites (~10%).

Responsibilities

• Engineering support for multidisciplinary projects from proposals through design, construction, commissioning and start-up.
• Site work as needed for investigations and assessments, construction and start‑up support.
• Design and develop I&C drawings, wiring diagrams, instrument layouts, and control panel drawings.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integrate with vendor equipment.
• Develop specifications, control philosophies, and safety interlocks; perform related calculations.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and contractors.
