Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join its Energy and Resources consulting team. The role develops foundation in consulting‑based automation and control system design, working with multidisciplinary teams across North America on mining, power, oil & gas, and renewable projects.

The candidate will lead or support projects, travel ~10%, and contribute to design, procurement, commissioning, and startup activities within a professional engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Professional Engineering license (or ability to become licensed).
• 5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, or power generation.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support through design phases from proposals to start-up.
• Lead instrumentation deliverables including diagrams and datasheets.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI architectures and integrate with third-party systems.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders; support project delivery and quality checks.
