Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Energy and Resources team. The role focuses on consulting-based design across mining, power, oil & gas, and renewables, with opportunities to lead or support multidisciplinary projects in North America.

The ideal candidate has 5–10 years’ experience in heavy industry engineering, a strong communication skill set, and readiness to travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• Professional Engineering license or ability to become licensed is expected.
• 5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, power generation.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for multidisciplinary projects from proposals through design, construction, and start-up.
• Lead I&C design deliverables including loop/diagrams, wiring diagrams, and instrument layouts.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integrate with third-party systems.
• Develop control philosophies, setpoints, alarms, and safety interlocks for various systems.
• Coordinate with internal teams and clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure quality and delivery.
