Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Automation / Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Energy and Resources consulting team. You will develop I&C design solutions for mining, power, oil & gas and renewables, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across North America.

The role offers opportunities to lead and support projects, with travel to client sites and Stantec offices, and exposure to diverse engineering challenges in a consulting environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
• 5–10 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, mining, oil & gas, or power generation.
• Professional Engineering license (or ability to become licensed).
• Willingness to travel to client sites (~10%).

Responsibilities

• Provide multidisciplinary design support across mining, oil & gas, and power generation projects.
• Lead I&C construction drawings, diagrams, datasheets, and procurement support.
• Design PLC/DCS/HMI/SCADA architectures and integration with vendor equipment.
• Plan and coordinate project delivery with internal teams and clients.
• Support quality control, design verification, and field startup activities.
• Coordinate with remote team members via MS Teams.
