Job summary

Big Lots is seeking motivated individuals to support Stores as we provide essential products at great values to the communities we serve. As a Big Lots Assistant Manager, you will help deliver excellent customer service and support the Store Manager with overall store operations to meet company goals.

You will participate in hiring, training, and supervising team members, handling opening/closing duties, and ensuring asset protection.

Qualifications

Prefer prior retail and management experience.
Effective communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
Ability to regularly lift up to 50lbs and perform physical tasks.
Ability to work in a high energy, team environment.
Flexible, full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members.
Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities as directed by the Store Manager.
Perform opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
Assist in protecting and securing store assets, including cash.
Maintain a professional and friendly environment for customers and staff.
Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards including recovery.
Direct hourly Team Members when Store Manager is not present.
Assist with freight flow, merchandise receipt and stocking, and stockroom organization.
Plan and implement Store Operations directives and ensure sales floor effectiveness.
