Job summary

Big Lots is seeking an Assistant Manager/Key Carrier to support store operations and deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment in Florida. You will assist the Store Manager with hiring, training, and daily store activities, including opening/closing procedures and safeguarding assets.

The role requires effective communication, team leadership, and flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Retail and management experience preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• High school diploma or higher.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities as directed by the Store Manager.
• Perform opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines.
• Maintain a professional, friendly environment with customers, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards including recovery.
• Direct hourly Team Members when Store Manager is not on site.
• Process corporate directives.
• Assist with receipt/return of DSD merchandise and freight management.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards.
• Assist in ordering and stocking merchandise; maintain stockroom organization.
• Ensure the sales floor is sales effective daily.
