Job summary

Big Lots is seeking an Assistant Manager/Key Carrier to deliver excellent customer service and support the Store Manager in daily operations.

You will help recruit and train staff, supervise hourly team members, and ensure opening/closing procedures, stock levels, and loss prevention are maintained to company standards. This role offers growth opportunities and requires flexibility across days, evenings, weekends and holidays. The candidate will foster a safe, friendly shopping environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in retail and management preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and written skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform store tasks.
• Able to work a flexible, part-time schedule including weekends.
• Retirement Plans offered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities as directed by the Store Manager.
• Perform opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines.
• Maintain a professional, friendly environment for customers and staff.
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards, including recovery.
• Direct hourly Team Members when the Store Manager is not on premises.
• Assist with receipt and return of DSD merchandise; manage freight flow.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards; assist with ordering and stocking merchandise.
