Job summary

Big Lots is seeking an Assistant Manager to support store operations and deliver excellent customer service. You will assist the Store Manager with daily activities, supervise hourly team members, and ensure stockroom and sales floor meet company standards.

Qualifications

• Retail and management experience preferred.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for long periods.
• Ability to work a flexible, part-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day activities as directed by the Store Manager.
• Perform opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards, including recovery.
• Direct supervisory responsibility for all hourly Team Members when the Store Manager is not on the premises.
• Process all SSC Corporate directives.
• Assist with receipt and return of DSD merchandise and management of freight flow.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards and stock merchandise as directed.
