Job summary

Big Lots is seeking an Assistant Manager to support the Store Manager and deliver excellent customer service while ensuring smooth store operations and achievement of company goals.

You will assist with hiring, training, and daily activities, including opening/closing procedures, safeguarding assets, and maintaining a professional store environment. Prior leadership experience and strong communication are preferred.

Qualifications

• Prior retail and leadership experience preferred.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform related physical tasks.
• Flexible, part-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with hiring, training and development of store team members as delegated by the Store Manager.
• Assist with all store functions and day-to-day store activities as directed by the Store Manager.
• Perform opening and closing procedures in the absence of the Store Manager.
• Assist in protecting and securing store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines.
• Maintain a professional and friendly environment with customers, subordinates, and supervisors.
• Maintain stockroom and sales floor to company standards.
• Direct hourly Team Members in the Store Manager's absence.
• Process all corporate directives.
• Assist in receipt/return of DSD merchandise and freight flow.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards.
• Assist in ordering and stocking merchandise and maintaining stockroom organization.
