Job summary

Mortenson is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to partner with the project manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance. You will lead, coach, and mentor project team members and coordinate with Subcontractors and trade partners to ensure timely, safe project completion.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in construction-related field, at least five years of experience, strong financial acumen, and the ability to travel up to 100%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of related previous experience.
• Current driver’s license.
• Ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projects.
• Detail orientation to organize and manage multiple tasks.
• Understanding of construction law and best practices.
• Microsoft Office and project/web application skills.
• Positive, professional attitude with strong customer service.
• Ability to interpret Mortenson policies and communicate them.
• Active listening and effective communication with diverse input.
• Willingness to travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Perform cost control and financial management on projects.
• Coordinate scopes of work with Preconstruction on estimates and schedules.
• Review and compile pay applications and change requests.
• Direct project team and mentor engineers.
• Lead subcontractor buyouts and manage budget with trade partners.
• Draft client proposals and manage contract administration.
• Provide direction to project team for safe, timely completion.
• Lead meetings with subcontractors for project coordination.
• Foster relationships across diverse backgrounds and levels.
