Job summary

Potbelly Sandwich Works is seeking an Assistant Manager in Boston to co-lead the shop, nurture a positive team culture, and deliver great guest experiences. You will train staff, schedule shifts, manage operations, and uphold health and safety standards in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Ideal candidates have at least 2 years of management experience in food service or retail, strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the stamina to work long shifts.

Qualifications

• You are at least 18 years of age.
• Minimum of at least 2 years management experience in either a restaurant or retail environment preferred.
• You meet all Food Safety requirements within your state. You must pass and obtain a Food Safety Certification.
• A friendly, customer-first mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• You enjoy problem-solving and can prioritize while running an effective shift.
• You can multitask, stay organized and manage schedules to meet labor goals.
• You can stand/walk for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Train, coach and develop Potbelly Associates and Shift Leaders.
• Effectively interview and recommend hiring of Associates, Certified Trainers and Shift Leaders.
• Develop and maintain a Good Vibes culture that fosters attraction and retention.
• Effectively schedule Associates, Certified Trainers and Shift Leaders.
• Update communication board with critical shop information.
• Attend regularly scheduled meetings.
• Count drawers and follow daily cash handling procedures.
• Drive neighborhood shop marketing and promotions to maximize sales potential.
