Job summary

Potbelly Sandwich Shops is hiring an Assistant Manager for our Operations team. This full-time, nonexempt role leads and develops people to execute outstanding product quality and customer service, while helping to build sales and control costs for each shift.

You will train and coach Associates and Shift Leaders, handle customer issues, ensure food safety and sanitation, and support local marketing efforts to drive neighborhood business.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of management experience in a restaurant or retail environment.
• High School diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Food Safety Certification required (ServSafe or equivalent).
• Strong English verbal and written communication.
• Ability to manage a fast-paced, high-volume restaurant.

Responsibilities

• Train and develop Associates and Shift Leaders.
• Evaluate performance and complete appraisals.
• Schedule staff and manage turnover.
• Maintain food safety, cleanliness and sanitation.
• Drive local marketing and promotions to boost sales.
• Control labor, food costs, waste and cash handling.
