Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement and store performance across a span of care. The role focuses on coaching Leads and Team Leaders, scheduling and forecasting staffing needs, and managing area operations and financials to maximize sales and productivity.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 4+ years in retail or customer service, and a proven ability to analyze financial data and lead with an inclusive, safety-first mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Strong service orientation and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information.
• Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising.
• Strong business acumen and inclusive leadership mindset.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and coaching for success.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership development.
• Oversees area operations and financial performance, including budget and P&L.
• Drives safety, store condition, and compliance with procedures.
• Guides Leads and Team Leaders in daily work assignments and training needs.
• Implements process improvements and sustains Meijer culture.
