Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement, coaching and performance across a span of care. You will oversee operations, budgets and staff through Leads and Team Leaders, while championing safety, training and customer service.

The role emphasizes talent development, succession planning and process improvements within a family-owned retail environment. Experience in retail leadership and strong business acumen are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members with clear direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial information and use it to decide.
• Demonstrates commitment to working safely.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership pipeline discussions.
• Conducts candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and enable growth.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, including budget items in P&L.
• Drives safety and compliance and manages store condition and procedures.
• Directs Team Leaders and Leads in daily work and training assignments.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
