Job summary

Meijer Inc. in the United States is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement, coaching, and performance across the span of care.

You will direct Leads and Team Leaders and be accountable for area operations, scheduling, and budget outcomes. You will lead onboarding, training, and development efforts, identify talent for staffing and leadership roles, and ensure safety, compliance and process improvements throughout the store.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.
• An innovative attitude to help Meijer set the industry standard.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members in span of care to ensure onboarding, training and development.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing strategies and leadership pipelines.
• Engages in candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, budgeting and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance and maintains store conditions and procedures.
• Directs Leads and Team Leaders in daily tasks and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
