Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to oversee a span of care and drive engagement, recognition and coaching while guiding Leads and Team Leaders and owning area operations and the P&L. You will focus on staffing, training, and performance management in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will lead safety programs, scheduling and forecasting, and partner to improve processes while upholding Meijer’s culture and commitment to customers and communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• Understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs and gain market share.
• Strong business acumen and commitment to an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching for success.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Holds candid discussions to uphold standards and growth within the organization.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, managing budget lines in the P&L.
• Drives safety and compliance and maintains store condition and procedures.
• Directs Leads and Team Leaders, assigns daily work, and addresses training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
