Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement, development and performance across a span of care. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, coach staff, and own area operations and financial results including budgeting and safety compliance.

The role emphasizes onboarding, talent development, and a continuous focus on process improvements to support store performance and customer service excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members in span of care to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching and feedback to be successful in all they do.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Involvement in candid discussions with team members to uphold Meijer standards and growth.
• Oversee area operations and financial results by overseeing the execution of corporate plans to ensure all services and products are effectively managed in order to maximize sales and productivity ultimately owning budget line items in the P&L.
• Drive safety and compliance throughout the store in addition to overall condition management as well as responsibility for following all compliance procedures in the store.
• Ensure the Team Leaders and Leads are providing guidance and assigning daily work assignments for team members as well as any training needs.
