Job summary

Meijer is seeking an Area Leader to oversee engagement and performance for team members across the span of care in its Michigan operations. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, drive recognition, coaching, and development, and be accountable for area operations and financials, including budgeting and staffing forecasts.

You’ll focus on onboarding, talent development, and upholding Meijer standards, while driving safety and operational excellence and contributing to the company’s inclusive

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Clear and precise direction to team members.
• Ability to analyze financial and statistical information for informed decisions.
• Leadership in safety-focused operations.
• Creative thinking and problem-solving applicable to the business.
• Knowledge of seasonal and diverse merchandising to meet customer needs.
• Strong business acumen and market awareness.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and coaching for success.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership talent pipelines.
• Conducts candid discussions to uphold Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Oversees area operations and financial results by implementing corporate plans for services and products.
• Drives safety, compliance and overall condition management in the store.
• Mentors Leads and Team Leaders, assigns daily work and training needs.
