Job summary

Meijer in Michigan is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement and operational results in the span of care. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, develop talent, coach, and implement processes to improve productivity and safety while managing budgets and customer satisfaction.

You bring at least 4 years in retail or customer service, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, strong financial acumen, and a collaborative, inclusive leadership style.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members to provide clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.
• An innovative attitude to help Meijer set the industry standard.
• A commitment to fostering an inclusive environment where all team members and vendors feel valued and supported.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development with coaching and feedback.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, managing budget lines and forecasting staffing needs.
• Drives safety and compliance throughout the store and ensures adherence to procedures.
• Directs Leads and Team Leaders with daily work assignments and training needs.
• Identifies process improvements and serves as steward of Meijer culture.
