Job summary

Meijer in Michigan is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement and development across the span of care. You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, manage performance, training, and succession planning while owning area operations and the P&L to maximize sales and productivity.

You will identify talent, ensure onboarding and coaching, and uphold safety and compliance across the store. A bachelor's degree and 4+ years retail leadership are preferred; diverse merchandising and inclusive culture are

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.
• A strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and coaching.
• Identifies talent and supports staffing and leadership pipeline.
• Conducts candid performance discussions to drive growth.
• Oversees area operations and financial results, including budgeting and forecasting.
• Drives safety, compliance, and store condition management.
• Guides Leads and Team Leaders on daily work and training needs.
• Performs additional duties as required.
