Job summary

Meijer in Ohio is seeking an Area Leader to drive engagement and performance across a defined span of care. You will coach Leads and Team Leaders, develop onboarding and training, and align operations with the store’s budget and P&L.

You will identify talent, lead candid discussions, and implement process improvements while upholding safety, scheduling, and customer service standards. This role emphasizes coaching and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrates proactive/creative thinking and applies it to the business.
• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members in span of care to ensure onboarding, training and development are provided.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support staffing and leadership pipelines.
• Conducts candid discussions to ensure Meijer standards and growth opportunities.
• Owns area operations and financial performance by overseeing plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance and manages store condition and procedures.
• Directs team leaders and leads with daily work assignments and training needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
