Job summary

Meijer Inc. in Ohio is seeking an Area Leader to drive team engagement, onboarding and coaching, and to oversee area operations and the P&L.

You will lead Leads and Team Leaders, manage staffing and scheduling, ensure safety and service excellence, and implement process improvements while upholding Meijer's culture.

A Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years retail leadership are required; strong communication and financial analysis skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 4+ years of retail/grocery or customer service experience.
• Progressive leadership experience preferred.
• A passion to provide industry leading service.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate with team members in a way that provides clear and precise direction.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze financial and statistical information and use that information to make informed decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead an organization that practices working safely at all times.

• A thorough understanding of seasonal and diverse merchandising which leads to meeting the needs of our customers/community and gaining sales and market share.

Responsibilities

• Engages with team members to ensure onboarding, training and development, and coaching and feedback to be successful.
• Identifies talent and engages in career discussions to support staffing and leadership roles.
• Involvement in candid discussions with team members to ensure Meijer standards are upheld and growth within the organization.
• Oversees area operations and financial results by ensuring execution of corporate plans to maximize sales and productivity.
• Drives safety and compliance throughout the store and manages overall condition.
• Ensures leaders provide guidance and assign daily work and training as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
